Something I've learned about myself in the goal making area, is that I get overwhelmed very easily. I set all these goals on January 1st with no real plan on how to accomplish them. I get behind on one or two, then the entire list goes out of the window. This year, however, I've started creating monthly goals that aren't crazy long and extend into yearly goals. These are way more attainable and feel less overwhelming in the long run.
Since I didn't do a post for January or February's goals, here's a little progress report on some things I did accomplish.
January Monthly Goals - Progress Report
-Complete Arbonne 30 day clean eating challenge. Done! I did this with my girl, Cherokee, and it went well! If you're interested in what the challenge is, head over here --> arbonne.com. Although Cherokee and I live in different states, we communicated daily about how we were doing and got motivation from each other to keep going! I don't like fad diets or anything crazy like that, but I do like "resets" every once in a while. The new year was the perfect time for this!
-Start exercising again. I started BBG and I really love it! I'm not super strict about the timeline, but I love all the ideas it gives me when I go into the gym.
-Become a morning person. I've always wanted to be one of those people who gets up hours before everyone else and is so productive before the sun comes up. Well, I don't know how productive I am but I have been successfully getting up between 5:30-45am on the weekdays! I love having time in the mornings to slowly get ready, have *actual* quiet time with the Lord (because nobody else is up, not even my dog), and enjoy breakfast. I'm digging it so far!
February Monthly Goals - Progress Report
-Continue exercising. **I will go ahead and say this will be on all my monthly goals :). We're making progress, people! I'm still doing BBG and spending as much time outside when the weather has been nice.
-Continue eating healthy/clean-ish. This is actually going well! During my 30 days of clean eating, I found some healthy recipes that I enjoyed so it's been easier than expected to keep up. Now that I'm trying to continue this all the time, I've been eating clean during the week and splurging a little on the weekends.
-Read an inspiring book. I'm still in the middle of a couple but I'm almost done! Make It Happen by Lara Casey and A Praying Life by Paul Miller. Updates on these when I'm finished!
-Pray earnestly for my church and ministries. We are currently in the process of finding a new lead pastor and we have been blessed with a transitional pastor to help us in our search. A huge ministry that our church participates in is the International Student Ministry in which we minister and share the gospel with students from all the around the world who are working in our city for the summer. Our season starts on May 14. Many students are already in town, but most of them will begin arriving in March and April! Also praying for our year round ministries.
Onto March!
-Pray through & write out the book of Proverbs. I'm about 3 chapters in so far and excited to see what God reveals in focusing on wisdom.
-Send out snail mail to friends who have March birthdays.
-Begin the Contentment Challenge. To get the guide for yourself, click here --> The Contentment Challenge is a challenge to give up "stuff" (shopping for clothes, accessories, household decor, aka unnecessary expenses) for 3 months to focus the heart and mind on the root of true contentment by actively pursuing fulfilling activities that will replace the addiction to material things. I'm a little nervous, but excited! I'll dedicate a post to this challenge once it's complete.
-Finally tackle my ever growing reading list. One of the things I buy quickly, usually without a second thought, is books. So, since I'm starting my Contentment Challenge today, my goal is to read the books I've already purchased and not finished or started.
-Travel to NYC. I'm planning to go to NYC with a few friends this month! I've never been and couldn't be more excited! I would start a "no shopping" challenge right before a big trip...but I think a souvenir is a good exception, right?
Weekly Goals
-exercise 3-4x/week & eating healthy
-pray specifically for my church & ministries
-get 8+ hours of sleep each night
-wake up by 5:45am each weekday
What are your goals this month?
Stay sunny,
Katie
