The older I get, the more I find myself gravitating towards pieces I can wear multiple times and mix and match. I am a true believer in quality over quantity, so I usually don't mind spending a little more on an item that I know I'll get multiple wears out of and will be in style season after season.
I love all these pieces because they can worn alone, paired, through each season. They can also be worn in a professional setting as well as everyday looks. Of course, most of these pieces are pretty neutral, but if color is more your style, then go for it! This is simply meant to be used as a guide and good base for your closet.
The good thing about these staples is they're typically sold all the time, so you won't have to worry about purchasing something, accidentally ruining it and not being able to find it again. There are tons of places you can find staples that are budget friendly. Some of my favorites are J. Crew Factory, Loft, Gap, Old Navy, ASOS, Nordstrom...really, so many! And always keep an eye out for sales and discount codes to get the best bang for your buck!
