Happy Independence Day! I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend! My family usually celebrates the 4th by grilling and hanging out by the pool with some close friends. And of course, watching some awesome fireworks. This is the first year fireworks are legal in the state of Georgia, so naturally, in a perfect small town fashion, they've been going off all week! How do y'all spend this holiday?
As much as I love everything about this holiday- the days off, delicious food (and festive desserts!), all the red, white and blue, fireworks, and spending time with my family- I love why we have this holiday the most. Freedom! On this day in 1776, thirteen representatives from the colonies claimed independence from England and eventually formed the United States. How awesome is that?! I am so thankful to live in a country where freedom rings for everyone to hear. So, it is my hope that while we are all enjoying our days off, eating yummy food, and spending time with the ones we love, we remember why we get to do it. This is also the last time I will be spending the 4th of July in my hometown, so it's a little bittersweet. In just a couple of short weeks, I'll be moving! (blog post to come :) )
This adorable top I'm wearing above is unfortunately sold out. I got it from Jack & Darcy (this awesome boutique in my hometown) but I am dying to get this one. How cute are the buttons on the back?! And I'm a sucker for a good collar. These white pants (after trying on many) have ended up being the most comfortable pants I've ever owned. I have a hard time finding jeans that don't stretch out like crazy after a few hours of wear so, I opted for jeggings. I was a little hesitant at first because I didn't want them to be see-through, but these have won me over. Since they are jeggings, they are stretchy but stay put (does that make sense?) so I wouldn't recommend them for the work environment. I also have this pair that are denim and more appropriate for casual work wear and they're on crazy good sale right now! These Jacks I have are my first pair and can I just say how much wear I have gotten out of them?! I was hesitant not to get a neutral pair (still wanting the platinum ones) but these are basically neutral with everything I have...aka a ton of navy/white/pink. They are so comfortable (once broken in-which doesn't take but a couple of wears!) and definitely a staple in my opinion.
I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Happy 4th of July!
Stay sunny,
Katie
